Artifact

I have found that the more time I spend scrolling through social media, the better my feeds get to know me and what I like, sometimes even before I do. Recently all of my feeds have been covered in travel pages and pictures of national parks and top destinations to travel. The one that has influenced me the most is Instagram. The way that it has effectively changed my interests and even parts of my personality is insane to me. Just constantly seeing all these other people online posting about their travels and experiences has made me crave that experience too, although what I see online is highly exaggerated and has been curated specifically for social media it still is effective.

Granola Aesthetic

I picked the idea of the Granola aesthetic because it is something that I find to be appealing as I love nature and anything outdoorsy and makes me feel like I should be hiking through a national park. The granola aesthetic to me consists of someone who wears earthy tones and thrifted clothes. This aesthetic is generally associated with eating healthy organic foods, being active outdoors and participating activities, such as climbing and outdoorsy travel in general. Keeping among us may listen to more folk style music like brenn!, The Lumineers, Noah Kahan, and Caamp. I like how Google uses the phrase hippie-lite to describe this aesthetic. The granola aesthetic shares certain characteristics of the hippie aesthetic but is significantly different. I feel as though I am drawn to this aesthetic due to its neutral colors in the fact it is associated with being outdoorsy. Every day, I find myself thinking that I should just pack up my car and drive myself to the mountains so I can hike up to a small mountain lake and paddle board peacefully. It’s what I am drawn to and this aesthetic definitely feeds my delusion of basically living in a national park.
